Understanding Constipation
Most of us don't give much thought to our digestive system unless it starts to suffer. However, if our digestion becomes blocked or sluggish our overall health and well-being can be affected. The knock on effect this has within our body and one of the most common consequences can be an uncomfortable feeling in the lower abdomen. This is usually an indication of constipation.

As well as this abdominal discomfort, other common symptoms of constipation include wind, bloating and in many cases a preceding headache. These symptoms may lead to haemorrhoids and fissures. For the majority, when the bowels are working normally they are emptied daily, however everybody has their own regular pattern, and what is considered normal for one may not be for another. Those suffering constipation cannot empty their bowels regularly, resulting in a lazy bowel muscle and a distended, uncomfortable feeling.

At the very least it can cause dull, sallow looking skin, eyes that lack lustre, bad breath and lethargy.
