The easy way to encourage a healthier diet
Adding fibre to a child's diet alone can relieve. By absorbing water, it will help to
food pass through the digestive system.

Foods rich in fibre include
• Cereals like bran flakes and shredded wheat
• Wholemeal bread
• Wholemeal pasta
• Brown rice
• Root vegetables
• Fruits
• Pulses

Keep a check on the amount of cakes and sweets your child eats. These not only contribute to constipation when overeaten but also reduce the appetite for healthy foods. And be sure your child takes plenty of fluids, especially water, to ease digestion.

Exercise
This is a great way to maintain your child's overall health and well-being and reduce the risk of constipation. Walking to school, going swimming or even just regular play increases your child's appetite and promotes regularity.

Reducing Anxiety
It's quite common for a fear of potties and toilets to contribute to a child's lack of regularity, especially when toilet training starts. Try adding some comic books or easy-to-handle toys to make the toilet a fun and friendly place.

Routine
Establish a regular time for going to the toilet so your child gets used to the routine, and make sure he or she never feels rushed.
