Senna is derived from the natural senna pod. It is a stimulant laxative,
which encourages bowel movement and offers speedy relief over a short
period of time. Stimulant laxatives cause rhythmic muscular contractions
in the small or large intestine. This action increases the speed at which
contents move through the gut.
